what makes the automatic toy trans such a turd??
has anyone every put a chevy trans behind a 22re??

 

I heard or read it was because of the integrated transfer case. Don't know but its a heavy son of a gun.

what makes the auto behind a 3vze a 'turd'... it's an engine with 'mediocre' torque... little more than the 22re.

I could very well ask why the 2008 Pontiac G6 GXP can barely manage 18 mpg in spite of over 200+ hp.

We've come a long way for economy, haven't we?

 

and to be perfectly honest... I've driven a 81 VW Scirocco and averaged 30+ MPG

yeah to upgrade the auto trans you pull it and replace with a 700r4 or turbo 350 along with a 4.3 or 350 motor.

I already have one of those.. in my 79. has anyone ever put a 700r4 behind a 22re?
