rear heater removal

so, i er, kinda went swiming in my 4runner and all my carpet is soaked with mud.

i took out the very front carpet, but i cannot get the passenger carpet because of the rear heater

i took all the bolts out but there are two pipes going to it. i cannot figure out how to get these pipes off without a hack saw. how do i get these off so that i can easly put them back on?

also, what is coming through these pipes? and will it hurt anything if they are not conected when i drive around for a week or so?

thanks for the help
oh, and i did search but i couldnt find what i need

I'm not sure how to get the pipes out, but they probably have engine coolant running through them to supply heat to the rear heater. As long as you cap them off, or put a hose going from one to the other (better option) you should be able to run without the heater for as long as you want. I've got a rear heater, but I have a second gen 4runner.

There are two rubber coolant lines hooked to those pipes, access from below (I modified mine with some elbow fittings):

Coolant runs through those lines, you'll need to loop the two lines to each other either at the heater or up at the firewall:
