Something got wet, now wont start

I was wheeling today, I went through a puddle. The puddle itself wasn't any deeper than halfway up the wheel. About halfway splashing through, the whole car just died. Everything shut off. I tried to start it, but I was just getting a click coming from the starter. I just rebuilt the starter less than a week ago. I let everything attempt to try out for about an hour, and still just getting that click. Don't know what could have gotten wet, or may have died, but I need help

make sure your distributor is dry. you will have to unscrew it it find out. i have my engine power washed and could NOT get her started for about an hour after. also you may have gotten the neg cable dirty on the frame so you may want to move it around or cut it off , skin it and reattach it. other than that i cant think of anything else under the hood.

Good idea about the battery. If that negative were dirty it would still allow power to get to the radio and lights? But no power to the starter?

check the starter connections

i would say distributor but your stuff aint turning over right? Check the battery connections (ie take them off, reconnect) and the connections on the starter... i know its a pain in the arse but gotta check em.

but also, since your getting a click, i wouldnt rule out hydrolock. The starter won't turn the motor over if its locked up ... probably not the case considering you only splashed the puddle but wouldnt rule it out, pull the plugs (all of em) then try turning it over.

if it turns over and water comes spewing out.. you may have effed a rod bearing and or rod...

in that case, id drive it till it sploded, lol but thats me

well then I suppose hydrolock may be a possibility, but like I said, the filter seemed dry.
