I (nearly) totaled my 92
Last Saturday I was making my way back to school after break when I caught up to a highlander doing about 10 under. I was looking for a spot to pass when some deer ran out. I had 'er locked up, but saw that I wasn't going to stop in time so I started drifting to the left to see if I could pass, but I saw headlights, so I ended up rear ending them. From the center of my truck to the passenger side is smashed in. Fluid was pouring out. I felt like
and
. Nobody was hurt. The insurance dude said my truck was worth 2900 and the damage is 2899.99.
Damaged: Wiper fluid pump, brake line, fender, bumper, valence, bumper lens, grill, corner light, HL mount, Hood, HL door, front right cab mount, and whatever you call the thing behind the fender.

Shroud was hitting fan and coolant hose.

Radiator was pushed in.

Battery and fluid res were pushed in. Fluid pump broke draining my entire res (thought it was my radiator draining....whew).

Fender and hood got creased.

DISASSEMBLY

The crinkled thing behind the fender.

The (good) front left body mount.

The (not so good) front right body mount.

Bent 3/8" plate on the plow mount (should've had the plow on...).
AFTER 10 TON HYDRAULIC
Here are some not so close up pics that my mom took after the non replaceable parts were straightened.

snow plow
i heard once that snow is this weird cold white stuff that falls from the sky when its cold. must be a nice phenomenon!
that sucks about your truck though i must ask how the heck you plow with something so small without beating up the motor and tranny?

that's almost funny, not the accident but:
I would be fighting the adjuster tooth and nail simply because the damage is exactly 1 cent less than the worth of the truck. That suggest to me the truck is worth more and they just want you to think you're gonna get fully reimbursed for the value of the truck.
Piss him off and get a quote for a new frame and new cab, bumper, etc. for half what he thinks the cost is, and get one of us here to quote you 500 for the labor and the paint. That'll show him that the cost to repair is less than he thinks and there is no reason to total it, which is what they want to do, but want you to take it back and fix it yourself, 'cause then they pay you less, and accept a 'salvage' on the title.

If they're going to give you that amount and not total it, then I'd probably take it.
Yeah, there's damage, but probably not that much (well, like I mentioned above).
Even the front windshield pillar doesn't appear to have shifted.

wouldn't know. we don't get snow down here... well, at least not enough to need a plow.
... unless it wasn't actually snow landing on your windshield....
