Hey guys, I have been lurking since I got my truck, you guys seem to be smarter then more of the toyota truck forums thats for sure.

But anyway, I bought a 89 pickup extra cab with a 22ret engine in it, all built.

I live here in so-cal and always go to the desert, so I want to get this thing off the ground. I am going for the pre-runner look as well.

Even though it is 2wd, the previous owner installed a trd clutch and a supra LSD in the rear end, so it's not totally worthless offroad.

Can you guys recommend a decent, affordable lift I can put on my truck? I am pretty sure its an IFS torsion bar system also.

they make 2wd ball joint spacers, then some AAL's in the rear springs, or maybe some new springs all together.

Probably best is to get a new spring pack, one with a stiffer spring rate than stock (for more load and towing capacity) and perhaps a little lift:

Well it seems I have bigger problems, I just removed my intake and the turbo seems to have delveloped some shaft play . Its a turbonetics T3 and its under a year old. Must have gotten to hot maybe. Maybe its time to swap to a v6 lol

 

it depends on what you want the lift for. Body lifts are very affordable. A lot of people hate the, and will definitely let you know it. Realize a body lift's limitations, but don't rule it out.

 

trust me when i say if you plan on taking it to the desert then cheap should not be in your vocabulary. thats how i started and the truck performed like crap and i wasnt happy. how much you want your truck to do will depend on just how deep your pockets are. if you want some quality stuff that will get you more performance then http://downeyoff-road.com/ makes some good stuff.

if you get lucky you can surf the internet and find someone selling a used kit for a lot less then buying a new one. a few good places to look for some used stuff are http://www.race-dezert.com/cgi-bin/trader/atl.cgi and http://www.dezertrangers.com /vb/. dezetrangers is also a VERY good forum based ut of so cal for offroad racing and longtravel suspension advice. there are very few 2wd guys on this forum so i manly come here for engine problems and go to DR for suspension things.
