Thinking of getting a Hilux Surf.. How to get more fuel mileage?

Hey All!

Thinking about getting a Surf in the spring.. Subaru's fuel mileage for my daily driving isn't cutting it!

Talking to bigT already and suggested to go SVO setup, which would be super cool, but just seeing what other options there are.

He said that his Surf gets about 550-650km/tank already. Which is already better than my Subaru off the bat!

Does anyone know of other mods that can be done to increase that even? K&N filter, exhaust etc...

Ones I've seen avail. to import into Canada would be 2.4s and 3.0L TDs.

Thanks in advance!

Vince

2.4 can have head issues mine had upgraded head already.. i paid a little more for a unit i was sure was top notch...
the 3l is a really nice engine if you can afford or find one...

ill run this tank down and let you know my true milage or actually ill go fill up and divide how many clicks by what i just put in!
on thursday when i get paid lol

but i saved 22 bucks this week..

i normally used 60 bucks a week in my 22re...
this week was only 38 to fill my tank be cause i had lots of fuel left.
i use gold diesel is is the same price as the second tier gas about 1dollar a litre right now
if you want a strickly commuter get a diesel golf or jetta they get 1000kms a tank

So you have the kit on your 22re or you Surf? I didn't pick up that you had the kit in the PMs lol sorry.

How reliable is the veggie setup? Reason why I dont want a TDi VW is I like the 4x4 factor. I dont like cars and winter.

Knew that already... Just bigT was talking about 2 other Yota I didn't know about so I was a little lost until now

Let me know on the Surfs mileage specs when you get a chance!

And if anyone knows of supporting mods to help increase it too.

Well if your going to get a Surf, make sure you do it now, cause Canada is making it illegal to Import diesel that are not 25 years old, similar to the states. But the ones already here are safe so i guess a used one would be the answer.

but my vote would be a 1KZ-TE, you get power & economy rather than just economy. and the SSR limited is the best package IMO.
