Boomerang shackles - what's the difference?

I'm shopping for parts for my SAS, and I saw that Sky Mfg includes "boomerang" shackles with their SAS kit, where as All-Pro, Marlin, T-G etc include straight shackles.

What's the difference? Advantages/ disadvantages?

BTW, I googled the forums but didn't find any info on the mechanics of the different shackles.

The boomerang would let the shackle clear the frame and body mount brackets as the shackle swings backward under compression. But all depends on setup, if the front hanger and shackle hanger are positioned properly for the springs then either kind should work. I run straight shackles on my '85 and they work fine.

http://www.4x4build.com/archives/73 Yes, old thread, but wanted to clarify, also, they are suppose to eliminate shackle inversion, but i dunno, it mainly seems to be something that is on a lot of jeeps.
