instead of taking it to a professional?

 

i bought one of those 3m eraser wheels, worked good on the passenger side, did horrible on the driver side.

But i feel the driver side must have gotten most of the sun for the life of the vehicle.

ive used goo gone for my pinstripes on other vehicles.. heard nothing but good things from the 3m earsers

 

Heat gun or hair dryer and a plastic razor blade. Done this to many vehicles and it works perfect. You will have two nice lines of unfaded paint when you take them off, though.

 

a power washer took mine off my 94, hah. but the residues were left.

 

when your truck is 18 years old that doesn't work. mine came off in 1 inch sections or less. i went to an auto parts/paint store and bought a rubber dremmel like a 3d eraser and it took it right off. theres lots of rubber dust and goo but compressed air and alot of goo gone fixed that up right away...

 

yea. That is what i did except on the driver side in some spots it took it down to the primer. It was in the spots that were super cracked to begin with.

 

Use a heat gun or a hair dryer, and a razor blade, then use carb and choke cleaner to get the adhesive part off, for anybody reading this, DO NOT use carb and choke cleaner anywhere near spraypaint, as it will cause the paint to come off

 

go to your local auto paint supplier, and pick up a 3M "stripe-off" wheel, you chuck it up in your drill and go to town. i use them at work to remove decals on equipment. i got turned on to them by my friends dad who owns a autobody shop. they wont hurt the paint or clear coat. i like to buff out the paint with a cleaner and then wax it real well afterwards.

 

After 22 years my decals didn't want to come off, I ended up using a razor blade. The other day while looking through a Harbor Freight Catalog I noticed this ( http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=65057 ). Has anyone used it?

 

if you decide to use a razor blade. the glue residue left behind can be removed with WD-40. AND that's the only thing i'd use WD-40 on. but the 3-m magic eraser is good too

 

I went to Harbor Frieght and picked one of these up earlier. For 10 bucks it was worth a shot. I just finished the driver side decal removal and that thing works pretty good. There was still a lot of adhesive I had to scrub off but the hot blade thing worked alot better than a blow dryer and razor blade.

 

i would def go with the 3m eraser wheel as others have said, i work at a body shop and those work great and wont harm the paint/cc
