3.4 "long block" use parts from my 3.0

Ok i am doing the 3.4 swap but i am wondering if i can use the alt ac pump power steering pump etc.. from my 3.0 because here is the deal I am buying a long block 3.4 comes with warenty and all but it has nothing on it it is just the engine now i have my old 3.0 and all of the parts from it what can i use from it to put on the 3.4 so i don't have to spent alot of time and money buying /tracking down parts i have not seen anyone use a long block engine in there swap all have been take outs so they are getting complete engines more or less

i think you can use your a/c but you need to get the entire top end because the 3.0 intake wont work

I believe Elvota used his 3.0 alt. He had to add 4 washers and might have used a different belt. See his thread in the FAQ for more info.

Save yourself time and money. Find a complete 3.4. Sourcing all the little bits and pieces will drive you insane.

I do realize i will be looking for lots of small parts, but i also am looking at the facts of for just a couple hundred more i get a long block with unlimited mileage and 3 year warenty. I do find blown 3.4 engine's often in yards here that i can swipe the valve covers, intake, injectors and the harness etc.. from. For little money. I was just wondering if i can use anything else from the 3.0 besides the ac pump and alt

Thanks

I don't know. I used all the accessories on the 3.4 when I got it, including the p/s and alternator.

Don't forget that you're going to need the wiring harness intact and the computer from the exact same year/model.

We can use the 3.0 starter on this too I think. It seems like I heard you might need to swap the p/s pullie to use the 3.0 pump. Although I haven't heard of anyone doing that.

3.0 starter will work on a 3.4
3.0 AC pump will work on a 3.4
3.0 alternator will work on a 3.4 (some bracket mods required)

Unsure about the 3.0 PS pump working on 3.4, but I believe the 3.4 pump is better anyway.

Basically, the blocks are very similar (almost identical). If something bolts onto the 3.0, it will most likely mate to the 3.4.

I do 2nd RobD however.... getting a 3.4 as complete as possible will greatly lessen your headaches and I believe be more cost effective in the long run.

No.... you have to square my second to make it a fourth. Then I'll cube your fourth.

Last time I checked, 2 + 2=4 and 2 x 2=4.

It won't matter, because I raise yours to the power of infinity.

Battle over!

But yeah, what he said. Buy a complete engine to make it easier.

well i realize that a complete truck/engine would make it easy, but i can not get a massive warranty on a used engine. I drive the hell out of my trucks for work like 200+ miles a day so a warranty is a good thing which is why i wanted the long block 3.4. I was just wondering what all would fit from the 3.0 now i know and i will sell of all the other 3.0 stuff and i all ready got a $200 3.4 that blew some rods out the side so i have all the lil bits harness comp etc..

AND THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR HELP I AM STILL READYING THREW BUILDS
