Ok here is my problem.

My motor is from a 2000 Tacoma. I didn't get the EVAP canister with it and someone cut the purge VSV and the vapor pressure sensor VSV connectors off of the harness.

I DO have the vapor pressure sensor though.

I was able to get a purge VSV and a vapour pressure sensor VSV from a 98 4runner though. I noticed on the older 4runner that the vapor press sensor was a little different than my 2000.

1st question: Will the purge VSV and the vapor pressure sensor VSV from the 98 work with my 2000. I am going to hook it up as per ORS's instructions using the original 3.0 canister

2nd question: Will my vapor press sensor from the 2000 work with the vapor pressure sensor VSV from the 98 or should I use everything I got from the 98.

3rd question: The wires for the two vsv's on my 2000 are white/red and white/green, white/red and grey/green.

The wires for the purge VSV from the 98 are white/blue and white/green.
The wires for the vapor pressure sensor vsv from the 98 are pink/black and white/blue. Anyone able to help me figure out which ones go to which. I don't have a wiring diagram for either

PN for the 1998 Purge VSV = 25860-75160 (wire colors = wb/wg)
PN for the 1998 VPS VSV = 184600-1960 (wire colors = pb/wb)
PN for the 2000 VPS = 89460-04010
PN for the 1998 VPS = 89460-35030

OK found out which is which on the 2000.

white/red and white/green is the VSV EVAP (purge)

white/red and grey/green is the VSV Vapor Pressure Sensor.

Anybody have an engine control diagram from a 98 4runner?

 

Ok I figured out the wiring I think.

Both the white and red wires from the 2000 go to the MAF so I am going to assume that both the white and blue wires from the VSv's go to the white and red wires. although would it really matter if they were reversed. They are just switches, right?

Can anyone answer question 1 and 2 though?

Pretty sure the VSV's, from the tacoma (3rz and 5vz) are interchangeable. At least they were in my case.

When I swapped, my engine was from an auto 2001 4x4 4runner. I salvaged all the EVAP VSV's and canister from a 98 3rz 2wd taco. Left the CCV wire unplugged, and basically followed the stock 5vz taco evap layout. Used a 2003 Taco 5vz 4x4 ECU and have not thrown any EVAP codes.

So if I got away with all that, you should be just fine.
