MC Rear Bumprer and ?" Drop Ball Mount

I have a MC rear bumper and about 2.5-3" of lift in the rear. I have to take a trailer on a 3.5 hour drive. I have put a trailer on once since I got the MC and also had the 2.5-3" lift and it was about 4-5 inches from the ground in the back and about 2 or 2 and a half feet from the ground at the bumper. How much drop should the ball mount have? I have been to autozone and wal-mart and the biggest they have is 5 1/4 ". Would this work?

level the trailer out and back the truck up to it and measure the difference between the bottom of the receiver on the bumper to the tongue of the trailer.

Thanks guys. I was price shopping around for 7-8" drop ball mounts and there anyhere from $50-upper 100's..I think i might save that money and get one later on down the road and save my rig the strain of carrying that added weight and just get a u-haul. Plus the u-haul will probably get 2x the mpg my runner will!
