saggy rear

My '88 pick up is sagging in the rear, called around for new leaf springs. Seems like 350.00 is the average without shackles. I have aprox 3" clearance between bump stop and frame stop. The springs ar not quite flat but you can see light through them. I want to be able to load up the bed for camping trips and be confident about it on the trail. Anyone have any experiance with helper springs? I've seen the load levelers but Im not interested. If anything I would be willing to slide another spring in there. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I got my springs from JC Whitney last year.

They are stilling holding strong and I don't have the saggy bottom anymore....

Seems about on par though for pricing. I also got the shackle flip kit and shock mounts to go with it. It escapes the brain as I am having a half-heimers moment.

you would probably be fine with add a leafs. they're about 40 bucks for a set.

yea try to find an add-a-leaf, never get helper springs, they're easy to put on but they make it ride like crap and dont fix the sag at all.

Only problem with add a leafs are that they are only a band-aid. Just sliding another spring in there puts tremendous stress on that one spring. They'll last for a while, but not forever. One of mine eventually broke. If your springs are worn out, It's best just to replace them.
