Anyone got any advice on a reasonably priced lift for an '85 pickup? I most likely wont take it offroad much and a smooth ride doesn't really matter too much to me, my stock shocks are pretty much rusted together. Basically riding on a solid piece of steel with wheels.

I'm looking at this one, just because it's cheap. Anyone have experience with skyjacker lifts?

I used pro comp on my 82 and was very happy I used pro comp front springs, downey 4" shackle(1"longer than stock). and the rear stock springs with longer shackle (3" longer than stock) (and small block to level). and used 12" travel procomp shocks. ended up with about 4" total lift, as for steering I used pro comp 4" drop drag link. spent a total of about $400-$500 in the end

front springs $130 (pair)
shocks $130 (set of 4)
drag link $90
shackle $50 (each)

 

So I can get a pretty decent lift pretty much by just adding some leafs?

By the way, I see that you have a cherry bomb on your 94, how do you like the sound of it? I was thinking about getting one, I'm running straight pipes cut off right after the cat right now and I know that's not going to fly for long living in the middle of a suburban neighborhood. Thing sounds like a ing tractor.

 

the cherry bomb is great it has a nice deep throaty sound and isnt to loud and not ricey I also had one on my 82 22R and it was a bit louder but I also didnt run a pipe after it

 

not by adding leafs, springs are more leafs (sometimes) with a greater arch. Get a kit and make your life a lot easier. I use a procomp lift 3'' in front 4'' in the rear. Came with shocks and flexes suprisingly well for a 400 dollar lift. Get shackles while you are at it.

Id go with roughcountry. I got a 3in for my 85 and it was simple to put on. You can either go with leaf on the front and blocks on the back or for a little more money you can get leaf front and back. But if you dont care about ride id go with the cheaper blocks on the back.

 

I was curious about the same thing. I have an 85 4runner (solid axle) and wanted to be able to get 35's under it. I would like to keep it under 4" of lift and am not afraid to trim some fender but it needs to be street legal because I dont have a trailer or tow rig. Possible?
