1983 on Ebay: 33K Original miles

Not MY listing..saw this thing on ebay and thought that the first gen crowd could appreciate it. This thing only has 33K original miles. Body a little rough though....

guess thats relative. being from the midwest like this truck is, i would consider that truck to be very clean. but i guess for california standards it might be a little rough.

Wow...I'd love to have that truck. Reminds me of that beautiful black toyota from Back to the Future!

Interior looks really nice! I wouldn't wanna drive it its so mint like a collector thing man lol.

The cool thing with that truck is that you are guarenteed a 200,000 mile vehicle. Yeah rust is rust, but here in Cali we don't have it. AT ALL!
But I am thinking I want out of Cali sometimes... Then my mint-underneith 4runner will have to get cancer

Well its nice...but.

Missing interior panel? Lights broken/missing? Needs bed damage fixed?

I dunno its nice but 7k should about be the limit. You can't find mint parts for those trucks anymore.

Rusty bads are normal for Toys in the '80s as I've seen cabs in near mint shape and the bed is ready to fall off.

That is a nice truck but not nice enough for much more than the $7k it's at now.

The story I was told was that the cab / chassis were sent as an partial assembly (part), then the bed (U.S. built part) was bolted on once it was in the U.S. this saved taxes calling it a part instead of a vehicle. I've bought racing outboards this way, it's built in Japan, then the powerhead is removed and it's shipped in two boxes. I know later models were done this way but I don't think it's true with the first '79 - '83s but I could be wrong.

the beds with the flare on the outsiade were made in japan, like the one you see in this truck.
if the top of the bed was flared on the inside it would be american
my dad sold toyotas for like ten years
thats just what he told me

Buy it..it is a great truck but hard to verify mileage on an '81 since it has a 5 digit odometer. What the heck is a ' roll rear bumper'???

you know I cannot say whether oregon is good or bad for rust. Now my truck, does have surface rust in the usual areas, as well as in the bed (but thats cause its a work truck, not a show truck ); however the frame and underbody has virtually no rust. So I can't complain.

Oh and scuba- Some trucks were shipped without the bed, but I have never seen a toyota older than 84 with an inner lip. Now, I have heard american beds have center-handle tailgates, japanese have two side-handled gates.

That thing is awesome.. not quite mint condition but almost, easily one of the nicest ones out there though, Id honestly rather have it than a brand new truck.

I heard the same thing but I see center handle tail gates here alot (Canada), I doubt they had beds shipped here from the US, The other thing I was told was 79-81's had Side handles and 82/83 had center handle. My bed is two handles, its off an 81, I heard they are worse for rust, the sides are rusted through in a few spots and the floor is rough too.

It seems like you can get a 3rd gen for just a little bit more. Is the appeal of a 20 year old truck that high? The thing has a freakin' carburetor!

$7000!! People are crazy! I rather have a newer Taco for that price. Why are people so eager to bid on something that has very little value. It is a sweet truck and I would buy it but not that much money.

that is all open to interpretation. Not many First Gen Trucks left on the Road. Some people like driving/wheeling something that everyone else doesn't have.

Someone must think the truck is worth $7K.
