Herculiner ?s

I was just wondering how Herculiner is on noise reduction compared to carpet.

I know i wont be able to get away from the sound of the lugs on the highway or complete silence. I was thinking of redoing my 89 Runner with it due to the original carpet being a P.O.S. I have plans for a sweet sound system and I dont want to spend a bunch of cash on it if its just gonna sound like crap with alot of road noise to compete with (could spend it on a a bunch of stuff for helping my runners offroad capability. Winch, MC rear bumper, etc.).

Also I was wondering if I put Dynamat the floor could I put Herculiner over it with good results or will the Dynamat just end up peeling off due to wear and take the Herculiner with it?

Jordon forgive me... see I don't have the answer you are looking for. Instead I must welcome you like one of the guys... because sometimes I think a more important question is:

How Do I Get Hurculiner Off My Hootus?

Classic.

Ok Thanks for posting, and bump for real responses...

that thread is HILARIOUS....

as far as the question, i dont imagine herculiner doing as good of a job since it has FAR less surface area do absord any sound waves, but i'm no expert so hopefully someone with real experience with this stuff will chime in

Dynomat would be a lot better for sound if that is your main concern but needs to be installed under carpet...now for a hose out interior, herculiner is great...Most of the work for a good job with herculiner is all in the prep work...do it halfway and that is what you will get...personally I think it works great though it is definately not at good as Line-x or Rhino lining...

You'd probably be better off doing one or the other, not both.

That Ford Explorer thread is just knee slapping funny. And to help hauckster, Herculiner or any other rock gaurd does reduce sound, but not any where near as much as Dyno-Mat.

Noise reduction is not to bad.... would be even better if I had a rear roof

You need to remove all the sound shield from your floors before putting on the bedliner, Prep is the KEY to make this work, Scuff up the entire floors and wash the floor many times with TSP (I think I washed my floors 4 or 5 times

removing sound shield for rear area.

Thanks guys but I would like to know if could somehow I could put Dynamat on the floor but still have the interior to look nice and be easier to clean dirt and clay off of than carpet?
We all know how much of a PITA cleaning carpet is and the smell of wet carpet is not one of my favourite smells.

Any info at all would be appriciated alot.

That thread is quite amusing to read. I think ill wear gloves for when i do mine.
