Shifting into reverse being a bit tricky is pretty normal for manual transmissions.

Your RPM surge could be a lot of things. It may be related to your MAF sensor -- take it out and clean it with some connection cleaner as a cheap thing to try.

not enough info. could be anything.

reverse, I don't know. check the level of juice in the tranny

idle speed ? could be normal as the a/c clutch engage and disengage
or any of 7 other ecu related items. check MAF, check a/f sensors

Thanks guys, went to the dealership today for service. idle problem was from dirty air flow meter. they cleaned it and so far so good.

In terms of engaging reverse, I agree that it's a bit of tricky for reverse...

I think all manual trans trucks have the reverse thing. I would usually shift into first then into reverse. Or I let the clutch pedal out a touch while trying to go into reverse. never had any problems

i find when its hard to get in to reverse, i put it in 1st then go in to reverse. Reverse is the only un-sync gear in the trany, when it dose not line up there are no brass teeth like on all the other gears to help it line up. You can line them up by holding back on the gear shift and slowly letting off the clutch, this causes the input shaft to spin and alien the gears.
