Ive heard that coil spacers are bad on your CV joints. My buddy said that his were throwing grease everywhere when he put 3inch spacers in. Just seeing if this is something to expect with doing spacers rather than the whole shock/spring system.

 

whether you do coil spacers or shocks and springs, you are getting the same result of steeper cv angles. Its not bad to do, just get a 1" diff drop with it and you should be ok. If you have a few extra $, you can buy a tacoma 4" front end kit and lc coils for the rear and not worry about cv angles

They are blown, get some new ones, and diff drop.

 

3rd gens are plus 10years old. and cranking the cvs at angles they haven't been in would make them cranky. sounds like they are blown or it could've been a torn boot to begin with. but IMHO it's the nature of the beast when modifying the suspension. x2 on the diff drop to relieve cv angles.

 

Just because the boots are leaking grease does not mean the CVs are blown...just that you are leaking grease. If you don't fix the leak then that eventually could lead to your CVs wearing prematurely.

 

It appears that the coil spacers that are over 2.5 inches tend to make the CV's puke. Most guys are safe with 2.5 inch spacers with the diff drop. I never had problems with the cornfed 2.5 inchers.....but I've seen a decent amount of posts with problems with the 3 inchers.
