Thats just crazy! I just did this with the same unit!!! I had the alpine control box that runs through the ai-net system so your head unit can control sirius and display its content, but I hated it! I just bought a sportster 5 and bought an aux cable through crutchfield and plugged it in and it looks and works amazing! I can post pics if you would like...

Edit: I think that your trying some weird crap. I would just stick with the alpine head unit and run sirius that way. I guess that I didnt understand you Q at first.

the alpine sat radio module will not plug into your factory deck. put your 9857 into your 99 and enjoy satellite radio without an fm mod that is a super rad deck. ive worked at alpine dealers for years and still run my 9835. (which is from the early 2000's,same display without glide touch) it just has killer sound.

I am wanting to run XM, and I have the tuner module thing that mounts under your seat, and I have a Pioneer deck, but I lost the cord that connects the two, and I can only order the cord from Pioneer, and it costs $70. I'm just gonna get a new tuner for $99 with everything.

For Sirius, I think it depends on whether the stock unit has any inputs on it, or not. If not, then you're pretty much SOL on that one. You can always mount the tuner like a GPS, or old school hands free cell phone, and control directly from the reciever.

I used my tape deck as the unput for almost a year before I upgraded my HU to one with an AUX input.
