hey all

84 4x4 extra cab 22r 5spd. the tranny is acting up.has a verry loud clunk,clunk,clunk.in gear out of gear under load or not the sound is non stop. sounds like it is comming from the back of the tranny more from the transfer case. i put the transfer case in nutral and put the trans in first. truck was not moving and i got under it and i hear the noise.i pushed up on the driveshaft a little and the noise seemed get a little softer but was still there.it shifts fine no diffrence at all.4x4 is fine its snow up here.im pritty stumped.i belive it is chain driven so i was thinkin maby the chain strecht ? eney ideas guys. shes my dd and i gota get her back up to par.

 

The transfer case in your truck is gear driven, im not a transmission expert but it sound like a bearing or something like that is going out in your transmission, and its only a matter of time before the transmission goes out all together.
