March 00' 4Runner W/01' transmission parts?

A few months ago I dropped the tranny pan and replaced the oil screen in my trans. When I got the new screen for the 00' model it was the wrong one. I had to get the one for the 01' Same thing with the trans dip stick, I broke that damn thing a while in the process and had to get the one for the 01' because it was the longer one. My Runner was made in 03/00 so why would I need 01' parts? SR5

Seems unlikely someone would swap trannies. I know the 01 has a A340F, and I think the 2000 and older used the A340H. Maybe they started switching before the 01 model year. Check the door sticker and see what trans is listed.

Hey thanks red, I have the A340F. I didn't even know that number was there. So they must have started in 00'. I wonder what the difference is between to two?

These are the descriptions from my manual, I think inside they're all the same, but as you've discovered there are some differences in the pan and some external parts.

"The A-340E is an electronically controlled transmission
without a transfer case. The A-340F is an electronically controlled
transmission with a mechanically controlled transfer case. The A-340H
is an electronically controlled transmission with an electronically
controlled transfer case."

Thats because you have a 2wd. His is 4x4.

If it was SR5 (J-shift pattern) it will have the A340F
If it was Limited (Push button 4wd) it will have the A340H

IIRC all 2001 Trannys were the A340H.

Yeah that sounds right. Thanks for the input dudes. It makes me wonder how may other parts on my 03/00 Runner are 2001.
