How does that help for tire clearence?

I had to trim about 6" out of my rears to accomodate a 108" WB

BTW I have always wanted to cut those cavities off and run a PU tail gate.

well when i put leafs in the rear i moved my axle back a couple of inches and i cant fully stuff my tire because it rubs right on the back corner of the wheel well. So I figured if I cut out that section I could extend the wheel well and gain some clearance. Do you have any pics of how you trimmed your fenders?? Thanks

sure you can do it. what kind of welder do you have? one tip i can give you. clean the inside and outside of the fender where you are gonna weld it to bare metal, other wise , when the metal melts during the welding process, the junk on the back can cause the weld to blow out.

i take it is a mig welder. i went to the toyota dealership autobody shop and asked if i could get few bent pieces, and walked out with a tailgate that i cut all my replacement pieces out of. what is your plan of attack on this project?

4Runners are double wall - you will have to weld in a panel to bridge the gap.

If you take out all the paneling on the inside and cut the body from the inside, and fold the outlined portion inward to make your flat bottom? just my .02

Ill be cutting up my rear fenders. Not for clearance but for cutting out the rust. Hopefully i can cut to match front and that will solve most of rust issues there. Ill post up some pics when im done.
