weird fuel gauge reading

I recently filled up my gas tank from a hair over half full. When I read the receipt I only got 5.6 gallons of gas to fill that up. Is there something wrong with the gauge or is the sending unit malfunctioning? Just odd I thought, I didn't think a toyota would have a sending unit or gauge problem this soon. Any feedback would be a great help. Thanks in advance!

in my 98 4unner, my fuel gauge is real slow to react to fill-ups...it normally takes about 1-2 miles down the road for it to come up past full. it also will be down aroung the 1/2 mark, but sometimes do like you saying...so i'm also interested in this question...

there are like 55 threads about this, at least 2 on the 1st page. Try a search, in all honesty there is like no need for any new posts. Every thing has been covered 12 times, either here or on one if the other boards.
