Bj Spacers and Front shocks
I am ready to go out and buy the BJ spacers for my 91 but was curious on what shocks everybody is running with the BJ spacer up front and if they like it or don't like it?
I was thinking of the doetsch tech up front.

It's a subjective subject. You need something that compresses to about 10-10.5 inches and extends to about 15 inches. After that, it kind of becomes personal preference. I'm OK with cheap-ish shocks, some people loathe them.

Some ideas on the web page below:

Thanks, but I don't want ideas though....I really want personal preference....how about those who only have the bj spacer no other lift on it....and who use their truck for some trails and some washes....thanks!!

The Monroes do get hot and fade. On rocks it's not an issue, the vehicle is moving too slowly to heat up the shocks.

Perfect, I am leading toward the DT since i had them on my previous truck for awhile plus they are local for me...I want to get the best I can since I do do a lot of desert washes as well as some small trails

Phil here at the shop had the ball joint spacers with the OME N98 front shocks on his old 4Runner. The 4Runner drove good on the road and did well offroad. If your going to run a heavier front bumper we recommend running the OME torsion bars also. If you need pricing PM me.

I wish I could help more with preference but lets face it, it's kinda expensive and time consuming to order a bunch of shocks and then wheel each in similar circumstances.
The Doetsch Tech shock p/n's are 3078, 8069, and 9069 depending on what type. I ordered the prerunner versions to give them a try. OME equipment is very popular on the bbs's too.

If you want the best there is only 1 true shock brand that will deliver and thats bilstein... PERIOD. There are others but everyone from weekend offroaders, to baja competitors use them, thats enough for me.

procomp es3000's Got them used for 40 bucks (all 4) good for 0-2" of lift, they are great shocks. I was very happy with my purchase. Loads better then the beat up old junk that was on there.

I'll try again but Bilstein while great, is not the only shock maker on the race scene period so keep an open mind.

There is no issue with Bilstien other than the length issue like was previously mentioned. In my opinion the OME's are a great choice and do very well in all conditions. They are priced right too. For the money and peace of mind they give I wouldn't run anything else. Here is my Old '91 withem on.

The only issue with Bilstein is that they don't make a slightly longer shock for the spacers. You have to shim their shock which works fine, it's just something people should know before they get them. I called them numerous times about other options but they said their tech was unavailable over and over and never returned my calls.

Sure they make a lifted option... for a 3-4" lift.. 5100 series... http://www.bilstein.com/suvs_5100.php for the pickup, but its the same shocks for the 4runner of that era too..
Do you have dimensions for that shock?

Frank is right. I didn't find any either. Like I said there are no issues with Bilsteins. They make an excellent shock. Also as mentioned earlier, it is a personal preference what you use. I just stated my opinion. Good luck and let me know if we can help an any way.
