newbie with first question..
got a 98 2wd 4runner limited,i am going to replace the weak rear springs with either OME or Downey-not sure yet-need some input, but was also thinking since i will be there why not lift it maybe 3",don't want to spend too much, looking for suggestions from you guys that have gone throught this already, also i have heard land cruiser front coils fit the rear of these is this true?also how much rear lift and are LC springs stronger?i tow a yamaha rhino and the stock springs are just way too weak, sorry long winded but i have been researching this for a few days now and really haven't had much luck on other forums or talking to offroad shops, thanks in advance

Welcome to the YT! There are three primary rear springs people use to lift their rig, and you have mentioned them all: OME, Downey and Land Cruiser. I'm not sure how heavy the Rhino is, but if it's fairly heavy and you tow it often, you most likely won't want the LC springs. I tow a 5,000 lb. boat a couple of times a year and they sag a lot. If I pulled my boat more often, the LC's just wouldn't work. And, the LC's will give you some front rake because it's almost impossible to lift the front to match the height of the LC's, as they'll give you ~4" in the rear.
I would suggest that you look into OME 891's for the rear. They'll give you ~3+" of lift in the rear and are firmer than the LC's, which will work better if you tow a lot.
Also, try the search...there's tons of good info on lifts here on YT.

thanks for the replies,i spoke with a guy at 4wheel parts and he told me i would need to replace the stock shocks with longer ones if i used the 891's is this true? and would i need to relocate anything like park brake cables or lines,if i am gonna have to hack up the 4runner i would rather not lift it then, also if i used the 891's could i get like a 2.5 inch space in the front and make it look ok,,thanks

They are wrong, you do not need new shocks in the rear if you swap to longer coils... unless they are going to be REALLY long coils.
Of course, once again, if you're back there, might as well just put new shocks on, eh? 891's are pretty nice, I had them for a while. They ride great. The front you'll need to level out as I got about 3"+ from the rear 891's. Yeah, you could just put in a spacer for cheap. Check out daystar. (http://www.wheelersoffroad.com) sells them.
You don't really need to do anything else. You could get a new panhard bar, as when you lift, it might off-center your rear axle a bit. I didn't use one for a while and was fine. You can buy those at http://www.sonoransteel.com. Brake lines are fine where they are... um, thats about it I think. Try to find some suspension write ups.. I know they are around here somewheres.

When you do put in new springs don't forget to make sure the brake porprtioning lever thingy is still in it's proper place.
Another option you might consider if you only occasionally tow heavy loads is helper airbags. They have some that sit inside the spring "column" and are completely "manual" there is a tire valve on the bag that you use to inflate the bag. I think they even give you a reference sheet with different PSIs for Different load weights. I think this might be your most cost effiective way to go if price is a concern.... just my 0.02 aviator
Oh! and welcome to the forum

For every inch that you lift the vehicle, and don't change the shocks, you'll loose an inch in downward droop, assuming that the shocks were correctly sized to begin with (before the lift). Around 4" or so of lift, you'll have practically no downward droop left, without going to a longer shock.
When you lift the rear, especially anything above about 2" or so, you'll need to address the track bar. Without doing something with it, you'll find your rear axle shifted over to one side and that's not a good thing.
You should also address the sway bar, because then ends will no longer be parallel to the ground, again, limiting offroad performance.
lastly, bumpstops........... Bumpstops........
Of course if you never offroad, then it's just for looks and you can probably booty rig it and call it good.

so if i dont do any offroadingwith it can i hold off on the rear shocks for alittle? also will track bar be ok?,,i really want to get a lift but i don't want to hurt the reliability of my car,i am gonna get a 2.5" kit, that is in my opinion a small lift and i wouldn't think it would effect to many angles that bad.
