for anyone who has the crappy cup holders..

First off, this is not my listing ... I'm only posting this because I know it's a searched for item.

But I found a center console from a 2001 4runner on ebay for cheap (so far). I'd buy it, but the guy won't ship it up to Canada. Anyway, if you're interested you can find it here

Parking brake?

If I'm not mistaken, you can't just drop a 1999+ console into a '97-'98. The parking brake in the '99+ models is offset to the right to make room for the cupholders. I don't know if you can reposition the parking brake to make it fit.

The retrofit works and if you look at the '99s parking brake position it doesn't look like Toyota changed and it really looks like it's bent a bit to the right.

Yeah saw that too but another little tidbit is you have to relocate the switches on the center console for the 96-98 as they are moved from their locations on that center console to the upper console. The upper console moved things around too as the cup holders on it sucked! Not a simple "plug and play" mod. There was a thread on here about a mod some one did moving the switches and such. Looking to maybe do this to mine.
