no welder and 63"s

I installed the chevs before I moved to Tucson and have been runnin doubles I don't like it any more so now I just want to get back to a proper angle with a 6" shackle.

I have no welder here and I don't know anyone here. So can I do a through the frame thing? drill the frame out, pound a little piece of steel pipe through both sides and put a bolt through the pipe? I've seen this on the front end of some buggies will it work for my DD?

I believe they call that "Redneck" or "Afro" engineering!
Can someone on here, that lives near him, please help a fellow Yoter out?

One option is to figure out a way to bolt the upper shackle to the frame. I did that on my '85 with rear double shackles. I have never had them unbolted since installation and mainly did the double shackle to eliminate the need to relocate the shackle hanger on the frame:

Call Steve at www.SonoranSteel.com and drive up to Tempe to have the right mounts welded on. I don't think you want to be responsible for the shackles coming apart on the freeway.
