Hey all,

I finally gave up trying to time this '95 3VZE after HG replacement. Took vehicle to mechanic. Mechanic calls and tells me all three injectors, #'s 2, 4 6, on drivers side not working. WTF...I paid $20 each to be tested and cleaned!! Took injectors back to cleaning company and sure enough, not working. Solonoids stuck. Well, they re-cleaned the three and I took them back to mechanic. Everything back to normal. Mechanic called and said, now #5 is not working. I was still able to drive the Runner home. I'll take off the plenum and remove again. I AM LIVID!!

Anyone else encountered this? I there a lubricant made that might "unstick" the solonoid? Do you think thec ompany that cleaned the injectors should return some of my money since it cost $250 to have the mechanic diagnose and repair? Am I being unreasonable? Should I bite the bullet and just replace the injectors?

I also want to say a hearty THANK YOU for the support, advice, and inspiration. Sure made this project easier. My deepest respect to you all.

Sea Foam? No, seriously it's a lubricant of sorts. Supposed to be good at cleaning injectors too. Man, I wonder what the heck got in your fuel. How long has the fuel filter gone unchanged? Not accusin' nobody of nothin', just tryin' to figure why. Maybe it's the people who cleaned 'em that screwed 'em up, I dunno.

So they cleaned the other three again for free right? I guess you should take the #5 back to them for a redo. At least make them do the job you paid them for. Then tell everybody you know to NOT use their services. Or turn them in to the Better Business Bureau. You probably won't get any type of refund from them, not that you shouldn't.

 

When I brought my injectors in, the guy asked how soon were they going to be re-installed. Says if you wait too long, they could stick (he wanted them installed and running in 24 hours)

 

$20 ? You get what u paid for

 

Hey Hip - Fuel filter was changed a little over a year ago. About 20k miles on new filter. They didn't charge me again. That difinately would have made me go postal.

Yoda - The first time, the cleaning tech didn't say anything about installing the inj's soon, but this last time he told me I needed to get some gas through them pretty quick. Just like you said.

Fo - What do you mean?? I paid $20 for EACH injector to be cleaned, calibrated & flow tested.

Uh-mazing!!!! LOL!

In the future, DJ, there's a very good mechanic up here in Winslow that can pressure clean your whole injection system without removing any injectors or anything else. All for $90. Don't know about the calibration thing, though. I'll have to ask him about that. OR! You could, but I'm going to ask anyway.

Got them cleaned at Arkansas Fuel Injection in Ft. Smith. It may have been a misunderstanding. I wasn't aware the injectors had to be installed soon after cleaning. This next time they go in within 24 hours.

heres what I know: the cleaner has zero lubrication or rust prevention properties. I would spray a little petroleum based lube in and on them after cleanining and stote in ziplock bags. DONT use silicone based lube or it will screw up O2 sensor. They come new with some kinda goo on them.Number one thing: cleanliness, esp in/around the inlet from the rail. Tiniest piece if crud will plug them up.

 

an expensive route would be to send your injectors out to a performance shop that deals with injectors, and they can flow test and clean

 

tap on them with an extension, if you can get one in there. did this to a car that had been sitting for a couple years and got all the injectors unstuck and firing again

 

hmm - the injectors I get from RC Engineering never say anything about "use in 24 hours"... Ive had em on the shlef for ages and they fired right up...

 

call witchunter, they'll do you right on the injectors

 

2nd that.. might call and ask him about the reasons for sticking.

 

i've always used RC engineering for cleaning injecotors. they even come with a flow sheet when they send them back.

a cheap mechanic's stethoscope from sears would have made the diagnosis much easier.

my experience with witch hunter was super good, definatly call them

 

lol well i have discovered that those motors are almost impossible to do the HG urself due to all the complications involved, i used to work in a garage and even there we had some problems.
Maybe you have a problem with your wiring, or also sometimes if the injectors come loose the vibrations crack the plastic seals.
