Advice on 1/4" Wheel spacer for OEM 5 star wheels

Just got the Tundra/890 lift finished and it looks great. Put new Pro Comp Xtreme MTs on also, 285s. They barely fit without rubbing on the balljoint or A-arm. I assume I should try some 1/4" spacers if I want to keep my original 16x7 5 star wheels. Should I do this and where can I find a set?

I would not personally run wheel spacers, but that's just me. I do not want anything between my rim and hub that could possibly fail. However, the guys that I have seen run spacers, do not seem to have any problems with them. Said as long as you install them properly, you're good.

Here's a few companies that I know of that sell them:

1. WabFab Off Road
2. Spidertrax
3. Marlin Crawler

^ None of those companies sell 1/4" spacers. It would be nice if one (or any reputable company) did though.

Anyone have a link that sells good quality 1/4" spacers? I'm tired of searching...

I got mine at Pep Boys. JC Whitney also carries them. Have run the same set for nearly 10 years now, no problems. The big thing to watch out for is that the lug nuts have enough engagement to handle the added thickness of the spacer. With the factory steel rims, I can easily fit a 1/4" spacer and still have a few threads extending beyond the top of the lug nut. With alloy rims, the added thickness of the rim makes the lugs too short with the spacers.

just get a set of 1" and call it a day. if they barely fit, 1/4" might not be enough...plus you'll have less lug to deal with. with a 1 or 1.5" spacer..they'll have new lugs to bolt on to, plus you'll have the added clearance under full turn, droop and stuff.

Rocket, good point. I hadn't paid attention to whether they sell 1/4" spacers or not. Before I decided against spacers, I was looking into 1" spacers and just kept those links handy. (Didn't realize it would be that hard to find 1/4" though.)

Personally, I agree w/ d0ubledown, just get 1" spacers and be done with it. 1" should eliminate any worries down the road.

Try Performance Wheel on South Sante Fe. They carry them.

hes running spacers and he did some major trimming, basically your only option.

or get some shaved arms or aftermarkets too.

i dont think ill run 35s but i may, i havent decided yet, id rather get my case and crap in first.

with 1/4" spacer, MT tires with a lot of lift even with the spacer will rub at full droop, however they wont rub under driving, i dont even need my spacers anymore but i kept them on as I have camburg arms now.

youll have enough thread with the 5 stars, but you dont wanna go 1/2 inch or else you wont have enough thread.

Thanks for the help guys, think I'll just pick up the 1/4" and try those for now.
