I've got an 86 22rte pickup with an aftermarket garret t3/t4 turbo. I'm in the process of hooking my FMIC up, and plan on raising my boost from stock to 12psi. Eventually, i'd like to go above 12psi, and have already purchased a larger AFM from a cressida...and plan on purchasing some larger injectors from another vehicle. Since my budget is limited...i'm looking to get something used either on ebay, or from a junk yard.

My understanding of fuel injectors is pretty limited...and was wondering if someone could give me a list of vehicles that would have injectors compatable to my vehicle.

The stock 22rte injectors are low impedence, 295cc injectors. I'm looking for something in the high 300's...like 380cc or above...at most around 450cc's.

Are injectors with the same impedence pretty much universal? I've heard of poeple swapping in different injectors from random vehicles, but there doesn't seem to be any ryhme or reason to it.

I even tried googling this info, and found nothing that helped (which is suprising, and makes me think i'm asking a stupid question!! lol).

There are a few variables..

The BIGGIE you already know - the impedence.
The second is the feed type (unless yo want to fab a new fuel rail - and if you knew how to do that you wouldnt be asking the question)
The third (tho easier to deal with) is if the inector PLUG (electrical plug) fits.

Running lean is a fast way to roast the engine.

IMHO call RC Engineering and get cleaned and balanced injectors from them.
Its would sad to find that one (or more) of your ebay injectors wasnt working running right and now you have a hole in a piston....

Id swap over to Lucas Disk style and splice in new plugs...

 

I believe that 7m-ge(2nd gen supra motor) or 7m-gte(2nd gen turbo motor) injectors fit

 

The plugs are no big deal.. Just solder on new ones. NAPA typically has plug repair kits and sometimes you can buy the injector connectors on ebay.

The 7GMTE has 440ccs that fit the stock rail and are low impedance. They may even match your existing wiring. Just buy a set for $40-$50 off the supra forums and have them cleaned/balanced/new rubber at witchhunter.com for under $100.

I believe the non-turbo 7GME has injectors in the 400cc range, but don't quote me.

Might check with the DSM guys, I see them using the 7MGTE injectors also, meaning their stockers may be in the sub-400cc range.

87-88 RX7 injectors can work - I've got a set of 530cc from the turbo II.
Verify resistance, and rail fit...

 

wouldnt you need a higher flowing fuel pump also?

regarding the fuel pump, i've read that the stock fuel pump is sufficient for much higher boost levels... but, after larger injectors and a larger AFM...i believe the bottleneck would be the ecu, and not the fuel pump. At that point, i'd have to switch to an aftermarket engine managment system of some sort.

 

ive been looking into this the last few days i would look into dephi/rochester BALL injectors. they have one of the, if not the, best spray patterns and atomization rates around.
