Noob 22re Question (belt tension)

Both the FSM and Haynes manual do a poor job of addressing this.

I'm tyring to locate the the correct bolt for controling the tension on the belt that goes around the power steering pump.

Unlike the altenator that pivots on the the bracket. It appears the PS pump is fixed. Is the adjustment made on the pulley to the left of the fuel pump?

Left of the fuel pump? You mean the distributor?

I know this is an old post, but I've taken off my power steering belt and now I am unable to tighten it. The bolt that is shown above on the pulley bracket for adding tension to the p/s belt is not in place. There is clearly something threaded that lines up with the hole screwed into the back of the tension pulley but I think someone mickey moused this a bit.

Anyone know what to do?

I called nix99, heading over tomorrow to pick up a new tension bolt. Seems like mine is missing.

Thanks for the confirmation Joe. There was a whole lot of head scratching going on....as soon as I loosened the tensioner pulley bolt, the pulley slid and loosened the belt. Right away I knew I was in trouble, because for the life of me, I couldn't figure out how to move it back up to re-add tension ???? Turns out I was missing a puzzle piece....the tension bolt! Its just gone. The guys up at nix have an 89 that just showed up... I'm going shoppin'!
