What yall think about that? Obviously try to work him down a little, but it's almost exactly what I wanted for the next swampthing. Already has the bed pulled off so I can just fab up a flatbed at work, sfa, and whatnot. Looks like it just needs a little tlc, paint, snorkle, gears, and huge, huge deer slaying bumper...

I was thinking $700 to $800. It's in rough shape.

A word of warning. Do not purchase that truck unless the seller has the title in hand. It's illegal in the state of texas to sell a vehicle that you don't have a title to; and second, it's a real bastard to get a new title issued when you purchase a vehicle from someone who tells you "the title's in the mail" and it never comes. Trust me on this. I speak from experience.

id pay 600-800 and did it say that he was putting in an 83 motor and its an 84 truck? dont you have to go your year or newer for engine swaps...i would assume worse in CA

 

Let's see, the only good things I see is that it doesn't have a rusty frame, the negatives I see are:

-22r (carburated, screw that)
-bald tires
-not running
-semi-finished engine swap with unknown engine and -unknown mechanical skill
-leaky oil pump (not hard to fix, but might indicate poor work on his part)
-no battery
-no shocks
-NO worthwhile mods to speak of.

I wouldn't pay any more than $300 for this truck as it needs literally EVERYTHING. I wouldn't trust the motor he is putting in it at all. You could buy a stock pickup with a SFA and have it to this point pretty cheap and pretty quick if you wanted to.

Something I have learned from experience, DO NOT buy someone elses project unless you know them and know the quality of work they do. This truck screams hack job to me. Walk away.
Right now you have a nice truck with a fair amount of work into it. For the $1200, you could easily SAS it. My vote goes to keeping your current rig, throwing a solid axle under it, and build it up. I think you will really regret getting rid of it for some other non built or hack job rig.

 

Good points. Probably won't get that one. I aint really in no hurry. But naw, swampthing's goin. Have wanted a p/u bobbed and flatbed for a really long time. Just play the waitin game till something real nice jumps out at me.
