thinkining of a 1-2" lift, allready need new shocks

hi, so this is kinda related to my "need new shocks" thread.

since i'm allready doing that and looking at around $150 for the shocks, what else would i need and how much can i expect to pay to get 1-2" of suspension lift?

since i'm allready doing the shocks i thought why not? if its not too expansive. (i was going to put in helper springs in the rear allready to help with the sag, those are $150 too.)

I was down at an industrial supply place today. They have all kinds of metal scraps down there and I found a good sized chunk of 1.5" thick aluminum, enough to make 4 lift blocks to go between the springs and axle. At 15 lbs and $3.00/lb it was worth the investment. A little cutting, a little drilling, some new longer U-bolts and my truck will be 1.5" taller.

allrigth you willies....thats funny.
its an 85 4runner.
so just putting blocks would do it huh? ok, but that would make the ride harsher huh? would i need diff length shocks then?

ok, so my options are: new leaf springs front and back and longer shocks, and i'm prolly looking at like $800 then or keeping oem leaf springs and just getting blocks/u bolts?

like i said i'm allready buying new shocks so thats like $150 and need to get rid of the sag in the rear so getting the add a leaf for like $200.... ugh. i'm thinking just not getting a suspension lift.

sounds like the only right way to do it now would be to get new front and rear leaf packs, huh?

Various lift options are discussed on this web page:

thanks.....just read that.......so i guess either shackes or blocks would be the way for me.......just so i'm clear, you use one or the other (you can use both) but don't HAVE to use both at the same time, right?

i think i'm just confusing myself now........will i need longer shocks if i go with either shackles or blocks? if i just want to level (or even give it a bit of rake) it and raise the rear to get rid of sag, whats the best option? and do i need the shims or whatever when using shackles?

Yes, one or the other or both or neigther. They are all separate, independent methods of lifting the vehicle.

You'll need to measure your shocks and see. If your current shocks are a little oversized, length-wise, then they may be OK. If they are already on the short side now, they'll probably be too long. Put the lift on and see how the shocks fit. If they dramatically limit the suspension droop, then get longer ones.
