Exclamation My A/C is destined not to work

It just won't blow cold. I completely converted to 134 (new compressor, evap, cond, expansion, everything). I charged it to around 30 psi, not cold. Then to 40psi, still not cold. Then to 50psi, still not cold. Compressor kicks on, whats the deal?

Ok first, did you pull a vacume on the system, down to at least 25inHg for 15minutes? Did it hold a vacume after?

Pressure filling is not the correct way to charge a system, you can guess the correct fill. The correct way is to fill by weight(around 1.7lbs). The sight glass is not a correct way to fill 134a, at optimal charge there still will be bubbles. If there are no bubbles it is overcharged.

Without knowing high and low side pressures I can't help much more then that.

You? hehe

What do you mean you charged it to 50psi papi?

Charge till is no more bubbles in side glass, less than 2lb of freon. Your working pressures should be around 200psi high side and 40psi low side, depending on outside temp and humididty.

Well I do not if you realised, but he didn`t charged his tires but his AC system

Free pressure in AC system that is stationary (OFF) is above ambient temperature in Farenhaits. Lets say is 80deg outside, pressure should be above 80psi...

I put on a vacuum for about 30 min at 29 hg, then it held for 30 min. So you guys are saying not to go with pressure readings? Is 2lbs good? What is that to ounces? I swear I will go to my grave without learning those damn conversions.

All the readings I mentioned were on the low pressure side.

I'm also not sure that the compressor cycles. I couldn't get it to.

Did someone say expansion valve? Yes he did...
I had the same problem last summer, and Summer in Dallas is HOT. Had a pro mechanic look at it and he replaced the expansion valve and drier and it cost maybe $150.00. Been running Cold not cool, ever since.
