Lightbulb Call me a crazy redneck, but...

Alright, well I got a hair in my ass to screw around with the Swampthing, and thought up a crazy idea.

Decided that I'm going to cut off everything from my doors back, close up the cab (basically make it into a pickup truck's single cab), and run with frame naked until I fab me up a flatbed. It's gonna look crazy!

I figure once I get done with it all, I want it to look something like this (yeah, I drew that in paint!):

Instead of how it is now:

I've already removed the back seats, roll bar, and gutted the interior. Just waiting to take the sawzall to the body now lol.

So... Any thoughts or suggestions? Anyone ever done something like this? Closest thing I've seen to someone doing something like this to their runner, was to bobtail it, and even that isn't close to what my pipe-dream came up with.

I don't know about that one, just get a truck if you want a flat bed. You wouldn't want to mess that up and regret doing it in the end. Your 4runner looks badass as it is.

While I appriciate the complitment silver, I've got way too much redneckism, bordom, destructivizm (that a word?), a.d.h.d., beer, and tools not to do something to it. If I screw it up that bad, I'll just tear off the entire body, and make a tubular body, and turn it into something even more crazy. I like doing my pipe-dreams in accomplishable steps. First it was paint it a crazy color and lift it, now it's the sawzall and flatbed idea, next it's tubular body it! Lol...

Seriously though, what are yall's thoughts about my aformentioned idea?

It would look sweet if done right. would you cut off the back of a pickup and weld it on to get the back window on your runner. Have you thought about using your redneckism and all the other stuff you mentioned to sas it. That seems like it would suit your need to cut and build.

Just pick up a pickup cab and bolt it on... MUCH easier than getting everything to line up right.... find one with a shot frame and you're good to go!

My vote is for selling or keeping the runner as is, as it looks good, and buying a pickup much like everyone else recommended. It'd be a WAY easier conversion. All you gotta do is unbolt the bed, as the cab is already closed off, and you can bolt yourself on a flat bed, and you can save the $$$ you saved trying to do that to a runner and put it towards other types of mods.

Lol. Great posts yall.

Well, see the whole thing about redneckism is, you use what ya got to get what ya want, when ya aint got much money to throw at something.

Sure, I could buy a p/u cab, and bolt er in, but then I'd have to have money to buy that cab, and I'd end up with a useless 4Runner body. I could do a SAS (which I DO plan to do eventually), but then I'd have to buy a $2-300 axel, and a $1000+ kit. I aint got that kind of money right now.

See, with my plan I got up here in my noggin, all I have to buy is the sheet metal (or whatever material I end up using). Aint gonna cost me nothin but a couple cases of beer for me and my buds that help, a few hours worth of electricity to power the sawzall to cut the body out, a case of beer to borrow a welder to tack in the back of the cab that I fab up, then eventually get around to buildin a flatbed.

Dunno, still got some plannin to do, and I just got done tailgatin and tellin my buds about my idea, so my mind is all befuddled (thats a word right?), and somethin or another... Was gonna say somethin else but I forgot! Lol...

But yeah! Keep the thoughts rollin in yall!

Oh yeah, about those stacks. One of those WOULD be an exhast stack, but the other one would be a matching snorkle. Dunno, thought that'd look badass huh!
