Dunno, I like standing out. Pretty sure once I reach my ultimate goal of SASin it, flatbedding it, engine swappin it, and puttin it up on 44s or something, all the while being painted kawa green, I'll stand out more than just about anything on the road. Unless you got a street legal tank like that lucky feller in england... Bastard... Lol

i think u should do what you want to do. Dont go off of other ppls opinion. We all use our trucks for different reasons. This one seems to suite you. lol i dont know u but from reading your post this crazy idea seems to just suit u. i do like the idea of matching snorkle and exahust stack. but dont make the stack huge. just use may be 2 1/2inch or 3inch pipe would look good

Redneck is right.
I hear Banjo music in the background! [ Deliverance ]
Bye a used pickup, remove the box, build a flatbed for it.
Best of both worlds, a truck for haulin stuff and a 4Runner for haulin people.

i say do it. im looking into bobbing my 4runner but if you go ahead with this, do a writeup. i like the idea of the exhaust up like that (maybe not dual). it would make bobbing it a lot easier if it was a flatbed too. like a stakeside would be really functional for what I use my 4runner for. it might as well be a truck. I never take it out with the top on anymore. the interior is shot to crap anyway.

What would make it even sicker would be after you sawzall it make it so you permently attach the tailgate at the rear of the cab and cut the very end of fiberglass cover so you have those grooves. Make it so you have that electric window where you would have a sliding window. Not sure how or if it would work but would look rather sick if it could happen.

I say, unless you have a use for the flatbed, I.E. farm & ranch, line work & so on & so forth don't do it. You'll regret it later.
But o.t.o.h. I know what it's like to be bored & want to tinker, I'm a redneck my damn self.
It boils down to one thing; do what you want with it. Set fire to it & dance around it naked in the moonlight if that's what trips your trigger.
Personally I'd leave it alone & do as others suggested already; SAS or other mods that will make the runner a better runner instead of an uglier pick up. Just my .02

Ok yall, I've dreamed up another twist to this idea. I'll explain more after I get off work. Lets just say I'm thinkin about bobbin it a good 5' or so.... Fold-down-able rear extended cab. Mwhahahaah! And settin fire to it and dancin round it naked in the moonlight sounds like a great idea! Think I'll do a video writeup and that'll be in the credits. Haha... Ok, ok, off to work!

How about walling off the cab and turning it into a solid body pickup? graft the tailgate to the back of the cab so you can have a retractable rear window (like posted above). bob 5inches off the back. install tractor taillights, run your stacks through the floor.
or bob the body to the cab and put a bed like an FJ45 on it!

Or how about putting something like a bed from a M416 trailer on it. There are a couple tacos doing something like that on expeditionportal.com I think it would look sick on your 4runner!
Oh yeah, and send me your rollbar since you don't need it.

I wouldn't destroy a 1st gen when you don't have to. There's not gonna be that many around 20 yrs from now....If i had money I'd buy it from you just to keep you from cutting it up.
