'85 4 Runner - Manual Window Regulators

It seems there is nothing good out there for replacement manual window regulators for the 1st Gen Runners. I have had two so far and they both seem to crap out within 6 months. What has been done by the Yota Tech folks to rectify this annoying problem? Does anyone know where to get GOOD replacement pieces for these things?

You know, they always seem to go out so you have about 1-2" left before the window is completely closed!

Thanks for your thoughts in advance!

John

Where did you get the replacements? Junkyard? New from the dealer? Aftermarket?

I think the first one was from the bone yard. No biggie. Then the second one I think I got from carpartswholesalers. I see them all the time on eBay, but I don't know the quality - That's why I wondered where y'all go for them?

Thanks for the reply!

Do you have an addy for Strap22's? Is this a Yota Tech person or a ?

I have been hesitant about spending the $20 on eBay only to get junk!

$60 isn't bad if it lasts a good amount of time!

Thanks!

Yes Phil works at Toyota of Dallas. His YT name is Strap22. Check out the vendor section. They have a good rep here on the board. Link to their site:

Yeah, I know that 'You get what you pay for' that's why I wanted to find something different.

Thanks for all the help guys! I appreciate you pointing me in the right direction!

I will compare the cost here in town vs. Strap22's cost (got shipping to add on so it might be a wash! LOL)

the big killer of window regulators is a window that is hard to go up or down. get some silicone lube, use it on the sides of the window track

I checked with the local Stealership out here and they want $110 for that regulator!! :o

I will be looking into Strap22 for sure! Even with shipping it has to be cheaper!!

I have used the cheap aftermarket one on eBay. I have no problems to report I did notice the window channels were dry and I also used silcone spray. They have been installed for 3 months.
