Last night I was driving around came home for a bite to eat and when i jumped in my truck to leave it started, pulled out of the driveway and then died. The first thing I did this morning was check for spark, which was there at my number one sparkplug. My question was is there anyway I can tell if im getting fuel to my injectors? and does my 91 toyota pickup with a 22re have multiport fuel injection, or sequential fuel injection. I have a Chiltons manual but so far arent very impressed with the fuel diagnosis section. I was thinking my fuel pump might be the culprit as I replaced it when i bought the truck a month ago with a used one, do these ever go out all at once? or do they tend to get noticibly worse before they go out?? Any help will be apreciated, thanks

 

also, is there anyway to test my fuel pump without dropping the tank and removing it?? thanks

 

91 trucks use 2 group injection, meaning, it fires 1 and 3 at the same time, then 2 and 4. You could check to see if you have fuel pressure by breaking loose the cold start injector, no spray=no fuel. You could check for injector pulse by getting a testlight and watching it flash.

One thing to note: my circuit opening relay just went out recently, a no fuel condition. My windsheild leaked and the water driped right on the relay, it made green fuzzies(corrosion) and no longer flowed current. This is just a random idea though.

I can get to my fuel pump connection without removing the bed, if this helps

 

Check out this online FSM ,should be a big help. If you pull the cold start injector please be careful it will shoot gas. It is under pressure.
Check relays and fuses.

 

could someone tell me which is the "cold start injector", sorry im kind of new to this and am unfamiliar with fsm?

You have multiport and its not sequential. But what we call "batch fired"

 

Yes, hook an amp meter inline and you want to see 4.5 amps, +/- .5 amps max. There is a diagnosis connector under the hood, a terminal will read FP and B+, hook the amp meter in to those temrinals. Use a DVOM with a amp scale.

 

True, a 2 pin connector under the bed in front of the right rear wheel.
