closed deck plate and air box lid= quicker 4Runner?

so today i closed up my deckplate and air box lid and my 4Runner deffinately feels quicker and like it has more power, is this possible?

what do you mean, does the 92 have a deck plate? what is the isr mod ,man my truck is brutral on fuel

It shouldn't be... But from your sig, it looks like you have a lot happening in that area:
- K&N filter, removed intake elbow, open air box, deckplate mod
So, did you close the deckplate, but leave the elbow out and have the top open? if so, then what you may be feeling is a result of hearing the air being sucked in through the smaller hole from where the elbow was. i.e., it's psychosomatic.

i never put back my elbow. i just closed the lid and screwed on the deck plate back in.... mybe it is just in my head.

i think you may have lost too much intake velocity and/or are just getting TOO much air by having the deckplate open, the lid open, and the elbow removed. I would just go with the deckplate open, close the lid and put the elbow back on.

Never could tell much difference at all one way or the other on my 01, 2.7 after the deck plate mod. It sounds different but thats about all.
