cruiser coil/bj spacer

I'm going to be one of the people you all hate for this one time because I'm asking some questions that I bet have been answered all ready...but that's just too bad.

I researched a little on the cruiser coils/bj spacer setup but i'm still a little confused. From what i've read the cruiser coils give ~3.5" lift while the bj spacers only give 1.5". Doesnt this give you a really bad forward rake? For those of you that have this setup did you have to crank your t-bars enough that it became uncomfortable or what did you do?

I'm planning on doing this so what are the shock recommendations from you guys? I was thinking of going with the OME from strap22 but i dont know if those will fit so I'm up for recommendations.

Thanks.

edit: I'm also confused on exactly which cruiser coils you use, wanna enlighten me?

The raked look wont be a problem. it corrects for sag and i think looks good.

thats what mine looked like after i did the bj/LC coils.

check out my profile in my sig, it should have some before and after pics. I got 4.75" of lift in the rear and the forward rake doesn't look bad at all.

i had 2 short side coils. i was running OME's when i was running LC coils.... they were ok. i would suggest looking at pro-comps if your on a budget. i have the ES9000s and i love them. these are the stiff gas shocks, but they also make the ES3000s. my buddy has them and swears by them.

reggie that looks like a really good deal. how do you like them? and will they work with this setup?

also...the rears from this thread would be the correct springs, right?

thanks.

edit: i guess that wouldn't be two short side coils...but i read that you cant really tell the difference in the height unless you're really looking for it. agree?

I like them. Little softer ride than before but i think that leaving out the sway bars helped that some.

Those coils would be fine. I could tell the difference. one of the coils will be just a little bit taller say an inch or so. That one goes on the gas tank side, to compensate for that weight.

The only thing with some used coils is how much they have settled. Robinhood had a good thread going about coil selection. look up his name and peruse thru his threads.

well i ordered the bj spacers and the shocks (thanks again reggie for showing me that deal) but now im reconsidering the cruiser coils...i checked and i think i'd have enough to get either the downey hd coils or OME from trdparts. what do you guys think i should do? it seems like the downeys or ome would be a better fit. i'd like to fit 33x12.5 but i dont think i will even with the cruisers. i might be going for 32x11.5...dang this stuff stresses out your mind haha.

I run 33x12.5x15 TSL's and I only have a 2" body lift. I have to stuff the front end real hard to get them to rub. And I NEED rear coils and new shocks bad. Just keep putting it off. lol

if you get downey HD coils you might need spacers. with the BJs up front it might put you back to having a saggy ass. i got downey and coil spacers in the back to go with the BJ spacers. if i could change and go back i would have gotten a longer spring that way i didnt need another spacer. but all is good. i got es3000 shocks in the back and i like the way they handle. very smooth and my truck handles so much better with them.

One thing to remember, the rear fender opening is smaller than the front opening. They will still have the illusion of rear sag if your vehicle is perfectly level. Also, if you do go with downey or other springs with the bjspacers, and you end up with the front a little higher, you can back off the tbars to level it out. It all really depends on what you want to use the runner for. I think the cruiser coils are nice offroad (very flexy), but I have to constantly adjust my rancho shocks on road depending on what I am carrying. Makes it nice being able to adjust those. The money I saved by doing cruiser coils, I basically spent on shocks.

The difference between 32's and 33's shouldn't make a difference on which lift you get. I ran 31's with my cruiser coil lift for a long time and it didn't look too bad. To fit the wheels, it is going to be about getting the right backspaced rim. I am not sure if you need to run snow chains or not, but I would not be able to run chains on my 33x12.5's right now without a body lift. I am going to add a 1" body lift soon.

Yeah i guess i forgot about that. I'm going to go ahead and buy those coils then. And where i live we get "snow" once a year so i don't need the chains. Thanks though.

33x10.50 will fill up the wheel opening just the same but avoid all the fitment/rub issues (plus they fit nicely on your stock rims, so money saved there)

I would go with 4crawlers panhard drop, from when I looked around it is a longer drop bracket than some of the others out there.

Brake lines: there are steel braided ones that are longer which will work, also if you have another stock line you can add it to your existing line. Steel braided is probably the best, but the other way works too. I also had to make a little drop down bracket for my abs line. There was plenty of line but I couldn't get it to slide through the loop that was holding it up, so I just made a simple drop bracket to make sure that I wouldn't over extend my abs line.

You also need to raise your lspv, you can either tie it up or make a simple bracket with some flat stock aluminum to raise it.
