alternator not charging battery. help!
i started a new thread due to figuring out some of the problem on my previous thread: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116/94-battery-electrical-failure-103311/ So today, after talking with a family friend who used to be a mechanic, we figured out that one of the cells in the battery was dead as well as the alternator wasn't putting out enough juice. So I replace the the battery (under warranty which was nice) as well as the alternator. After replacing and installing them things still aren't working properly.
So here's the deal. When the engine's off, the battery should read somewhere between 12 and 13 volts. Right now it's reading about 12. When the engine's on the alternator should be putting out about 14 volts into the system. Currently it's putting out 12, and we're not sure it's putting out anything.
What's happening right now is the battery isn't getting charged. So the car runs, but only for about an hr untill the battery goes too low to power the car. (that's what all the problems were in my previous thread) What's causing this? i've reached a dead end now and have no idea where to proceed. any help would be awesome.
and boy doesn't it make it fun when i'm going back to college in a week...boy i love car problems.

Look at my post in your other thread. You screwed up some of your wiring, and at this point your alternator either isn't hooked up to the truck, or it fried when you replaced it without fixing the original problem.
