i have been looking all morning and cant find what i am looking for.
the spring center pin on the chevy springs are 9/16. and the hole on the toyota perch is about 7/8. what are people doing to make these work together? any help is much appreciated.

 

the head of that center pin is larger than 9/16's should fit in the perches fine at least it did for mine

 

You have to make, or buy special hangers for the chevy springs. The holes in the chevy springs are 9/16", and the holes in the shackle mounts on the toyotas are 19mm or 3/4". I made my own hangers and shackles, but if I was to do it again, I would have spent the money, and bought http://www.sky-manufacturing.com/ chevy swap kit. i did buy skys kit. the problem was with the spring perch on the axle. toyota uses some gay setup. the hole on the spring perch is 7/8". the chevy center pin on the spring is 9/16". if i put the chevy spring into the toyota perch it leaves 5/16 extra for the spring to move around on top of the perch.

 

Did you buy sky's ubolt flip kit? The hole on the spring perch really doesn't matter, it should sit down in there. It will be held tight by the upper plate of the flip kit, I actually had to drill the one I got from sky, to fit the chevy pin through.

 

You need a little play in there in order to get the springs centered on top of the perches. Toyota center pins are about 9/16" head too (3/8" or 10mm bolts) and the perch hole is a bit over 5/8". You may have one of the late model rear axles that uses a clamp around the springs with a rubber-surrounded center pin (probably to make things quieter). One option would be to weld a plate atop the perch with a smaller center hole, or cut off the perches and weld on a different set w/ smaller hole. Another option would be to use a hex head center bolt (larger head than a round center pin head). Or find some tubing to fit inside the big hole and drill it out to a smaller size to fit the center bolt head.

 

the truck is a 93. and the springs were clamped. there was a small metal sleeve molded into the rubber of the stock setup that i ripped out and dropped it in the perch it fit perfect.

 

not to take over the thread but i just got some year 2000 chevy 1500 springs and they measure 62" they have 2 leafs and a bottom out. I think they are rated the same as the older springs. Will these work for the swap or is it a must for them to be from year 88-98? Thanks
