85 Pickup Dlx - Wont Click, Wont Turn over

85 Toyota Pickup Deluxe with brand new battery wont turn over and makes no clicking sound. When attempting to jump it I can turn the lights on but nothing else happens. Just silence. Prior to today it would take 10~ seconds to start and then fired right up.

The google machine leads me to believe it’s the starter. Any other suggestions?

Added context: I left my lights on overnight like a moron.

Puld be the starter. Could be the lack of starter relay. I am not smart enough to guess what one. @Rad4runner has a lot of info on these electrical systems.

Automatic. No switch that I’m aware of.

Automatics all have a neutral safety switch to prevent starting in gear. Stick shifts have a clutch start switch so you can only start them with the clutch depressed or the "clutch start bypass" button depressed.
Since it's an automatic try wiggling the shifter or move it to neutral instead of park and see if it starts.

Well I like the thought of this solving the problem but unfortunately it did not. Tried it with and without jumpers attached. Zero click or turning of the engine.

Prior to hooking the battery up to jumpers the lights would not turn on. After a few seconds of connection the lights would turn on and even would do so after the cable were disconnected. I guess I'll take it to the shop. Little beyond my pay grade at this point.

Thanks!

Update: double checked the fuse box and sure enough the main fuse was toast. Replaced and now the engine cranks but won’t start.

There you go. Don't give up so easily. We all had to star somewhere.
For no start, check spark, fuel, air. Lot's of of posts about those in the forum. Use the "Google" search in the forum (attached). Other search options are WORTHLESS.

Had what sounds like the same problem , turned out that cleaning starter mounting bolts and re-tightening them was all it took , then I got to return the new starter . Real pain for old man with bad shoulders . OOps missed the fixed entry ,
