Here on my lunch at work so limited resources
My 94 3.0 runner has been acting up when it comes to starting
When u cycle the key you can hear the solinoid click but not turn over this can happen few times or lots
I have put in new ground yesterday
Checked a local yard for starter they asked about how many kilowatts it was first time I ever been asked that
Any pointers to avoid work or extra cost getting cold out I I hate working in my driveway

Are you certain that it is the solenoid (piggybacked on starter motor) that clicks?

We can guess, but just listening to our guesses would not be as good as understanding how the typical starting/cranking system works.

OK, quick guess ... IF and only IF you're sure that it's the solenoid that clicks: Bad solenoid contacts. See 4Crawler's site for fix.

When this happens, try going out, and tapping on the starter with a hammer, or a rachet handle a few times, then try to start your rig. If it starts, the brushes are worn, or have developed a flat spot. You can replace the brushes, and I believes you can get them cheap from the stealership. There are a few write-ups on how to change them. Not real hard, from what I remember reading a long time ago.....

well last night I whent out to start looking deeper into the starter issue . I didn't have much time as I pretty well got under and started to undo the main power wire when I was called into work again. so I just did it back up and it starts every hit now so it is bad connection and I will be removing the wire and cleaning it properly and reinstall

I had a similar problem and it was a dirty connection.

Yep, clean, neat wiring (both power & ground sides) is always a good thing.
