Changed O2sensor .......Now she won't start

Hey Guys after a month of trying to figure out why my 94 22RE was running so rough, I beared down and took it to a mechanic. He ran his diagnostics and saw that the male connector of the 02 sensor was filled with water and corroded. Because this seemed like such a simple fix I decided id do it myself. So I ordered a male connector and a new 02 sensor. I cut off the old connector and spliced the new one exactly like the old and followed the wiring diagram. I plugged in the new 02 sensor to the connector and went to start it....... I started it up and it ran for 3 seconds and then died. If you try to start it after that it will just crank and not turn over. Any help is appreciated, Thank you!!

Start by checking the EFI (MFI) fuse. If you have a short in your splice, it usually blows that fuse. http://web.archive.org/web/201204170.../2powersou.pdf

Of course, if that fuse is blown, you will go through a handful of them before you figure out the wiring isn't up to snuff.

Take the battery off for a minute.

OR

Is it a Denso sensor? If not, get a Denso.

"Learned" fuel trim isn't active at startup, it doesn't go into closed loop when the engine is cold, so resetting the computer shouldn't have any effect.

The much more likely cause is the short on the wire scenario.
