Hey, i am new to the forum and have some questions about the sunroofs.
I have a complete roof clip from a early 90's 4 runner with a sunroof (Pretty big sunroof compared to other vehicles). I have the sunroof out and i will be adding this to my 98 GMC Safari van (welding and fabricating it to fit into the headliner). I do not know what wires do what on the sunroof motor though. If someone knows please post so i can start this project very soon. Thanks, matt

yeah, the electric sunroof motor that hangs off the front of the sunroof assembly to make the sunroof go back and forth.

 

Yeah I got the idea I just didn't know Toyota 4runners had them.

 

i dont know how many earlier ones had them but most of the later models do

i searched through other post and could not find anything, does someone have the wiring diagram

 

these are the wires that i need to know what they do. The white connector is red and green wires, if i hook a battery up to them it moves the sunroof back and forth but does not pop it open. it will also not stop halfway if i do it this way. If i switch the positive and negative that switches the direction of the glass. I need to know how the blue connector with 4 wires controlls whatever it controls. i've searched all over the internet and checked haynes and chilton with no mention of sunroof wiring. Someone must know this, please help me out as i am almost ready to put this into my van and need to know what type of power source or relays i need. thanks, matt

 

I have the wiring diagram for a 95 4Runner, don't know if the wires are the same but it might help. If you want a copy let me have an email address.

thanks, i will definately save that but it looks as if the 2001 model is different than the earlier ones.

 

Ok got a little further today, in these pics if i hook up a pos and neg to the blue and white w/ tracer black wires i can use the switch to move the sunroof back and forth. Does anyone know if the 93 sunroofs had the option to pop up to let air out or not? also what does the button do that is next to the close, open switch, when i push it nothing happens. Also if i do it this way there is no safety stop when i close it, it will close all the way if i hold the button down. thanks everyone for the help, matt

 

The wiring diagram for the 95 is different than the 93 so if someone could scan it for me and email it to me i would appreciate it as i cant find it anywhere i look. thanks, matt

 

I have to find mine, but I have an FSM or two laying around.

 

that would be what i would need to find out if i'm missing anything and they would show sunroof wiring, the other manuals dont have sunroof wiring in them
