I sold my 1984 pickup to a friend, probably the only person I could have. I had too much money and time in it to really beat the crap out of it etc but... Luckily.
I have this 1985 4x4 (22r) with 157k on it and seriously hardly anything in it. I have 9 days off starting Friday and the plan is to chop a cab top off of a parts truck that I have, install a windshield, run new fuel lines, and swap in a pro comp lift that I have on ice. This truck will be what my 84 couldn't. Also I'm fairly certain it has 4:88s
Ruby... My '84 DLX 4x2. 22R - A43D Auto - A/C - Cruise - Digital Clock. Have a clean 20R head sittin' in a box waiting to be prepped with larger valves and a mild port job. First thing is a tire/wheel update. Jus found some Wrangler 15x8's and painted them a custom blend Toyota Magnetic Gray and gonna wrap them in 225/70R15's. Doing away with the 2" drop the PO installed. She has been resprayed once by the original owner. Truck was purchased new in Clanton, Alabama until a youngster purchased it. I purchased it a year after he did because he had a new born on the way and the wifey was making him thin his toys. He said he was almost 100% positive the original gent that owned it never even put the truck on the highway... only ever knew local roads.
I picked this up a couple weeks ago. 1985, 142k, stock and rusty. I paid 500 and drove it over an hour home.
body is rough, frame is solid, interior is dirty but all there. Not sure what my plans are yet, other than catching up on neglected maintenance. She has potential.
It's ugly but this is a committed relationship. I bought it in 1985 with not a scratch on it. I've put every scratch, ding, dent, broken frame, squared wheels, ripped out side walls and tough love and lot's of miles on it. Currently it's getting resurrected for one more go round.

Yes, it looks almost like my 84 4-runner. I also cut out the back of the cab and front of the bed for pass through. I have a double hoop roll bar in the bed and had Subaru Brat rear seats mounted for my kids when they were little.
4 years after selling my 93, I’m happy to be back in a 1st Gen SR5 4Runner. I’ve got a few issues to sort out, but that’s half the fun of owning an older vehicle. Talk to you soon - JC.
I have no idea, they aren’t in the best shape, I need to find a donor 4Runner down the road for some better interior pieces. Have to sort out some other issues first.
