Where on the bumper would you like to put them?
Older Pathfinder / Xterra (2000 - 2001) fog lights that are rectangular, and PIAA 2100 series are the right size to replace the turn signals (after you relocate them).
Either way, mounting needs to be improvised.
Not the same spot I'm talking about but anything that will fit in that spot should fit in the one I'm talking about. Definitely have to figure out how to mount but there is a little hole next to the empty ones that could be used for a custom mount or does anyone make lights for the stock bumper???
My guess was that hole was to allow air behind the bumper
The radiator extends into that area, and that hole helped air flow in?
I don't ever recall seeing an OEM fog light to work in that spot
Many people mounted "pendant" lights (aka Hella 500) using the chrome bolt that was on top of that bumper (no drilling!)

Those "pendant lights" are easy to install but are too exposed so easy to bump out of alignment.
The turn signal location is the ideal location for fog lights; low, farthest out, and protected.
Absolutely no off-the-shelf customized fogs for the first-gen 4Runner.
I don't think that putting light there would cause air flow to the radiator to be negatively affected. And it's kinda ridiculous that there are almost perfect holes for light yet no one has tried to fill the niche. I'll keep searching for a light that fits but I may just go custom LED's

It has to be custom, because like we said no one- absolutely no one- makes lights specifically for that opening. Look up the PIAA I mentioned^^^ and compare to size of opening.
The locations of stock front turn signals (B) are ideal for fog lights because they are low and closer to the corners - we want fog light spread to be wide. I'm now planning to relocate stock front turn signals to the blocked off section of the grille (A) immediately inboard of the headlights, then install the Pathfinder/XTerra fog lights to the stock turn signal location.
I like the rectangular low-profile of the stock fog lights from 1990-1999 Pathfinder or 2000-2001 XTerra,and I think they would fit well there (need to verify measurements).
OVERALL PLAN
NEW LOCATION FOR TURN SIGNALS
First step would be to find good turn signals that would fit the new location (A). There are two 4.5"x2" areas on each side. If you know of a good turn signal housing that would fit there, I'd appreciate the inputs. Ideal would be DOT-compliant housings for 1156 or 7443 bulbs (approx 23-26 watts each). The stock turn signal housings would be nice but they are too wide.
I'd also like for those to double as daytime running lights like the newer Tacoma's / Tundras.

I have a set on the front of the 4runner (this post reminds me that I need to mount them better, been zip tied for about a year

Thanks a lot, Robb. I used those Trail Gear Ambers for my fender-mounted turn signals; great for driver alongside me, but I think they're a little dim for the front meant for drivers from afar and approaching at faster speeds. I may be able to use multiple side-by-side, so I'll definitely keep you in mind if I need them. Yeah those ovals are great if only they were smaller.
Using multiple Grand General Amber Markers is an option that will fit almost perfectly... but I'm still hopeful I can find a single housing to work...

LOL! Yes, emblem belongs there, but it's been relocated to my forehead - LOL! The truck never had it since I got it, and knowing me, I'm happy to do away with non-functional details

You can also get cheapo Made in Thailand corners with blinkers but both bulbs are 194's so it's not the brightest. I added LED's but eventually I'll modify them later for bigger bulbs. I plan on upgrading my bumper soon so I would have needed to relocate the blinkers eventually.

I like those corners with turn signals, but yes 194's much dimmer than the 1156's in the bumper turn signals. Eventually, however, I would like to make my corners blink with turn signals as well; I just like to see well and be seen well because of too many distracted drivers AND pedestrians (aka digital zombies) out there.
