Could some one tell me why this happened or have you seen it before...
Just installed front hi-pinion diff w/elocker and went wheeling, nothing to hardcore. I noticed today while hosing off the mud that my gasket is poking out at the top of the diff, like it got squished and pushed out. There is no fluid leaking or even wet areas.
I haven't re-torqued the nuts yet to see if they worked loose, but I did red loctite them and used the torque specs of 18ft.lbs. I did use the locker a bit on the trail and wonder if this presents more stress on the front housing. And this is a retro fitted mini-truck axle housing.
here is a crappy pic of the brown gasket poking out at the top of the diff seal...thanks

Ordered my brake lines from technafit 5 total including flexible lines for the rear calipers. Came in around $110, DOT certified and stainless. I'm happy with that deal. Hopefully this solves my squishy brakes issue. I noticed today a fitting on one rear caliper is wet, certainly isn't helping but it's not dripping.

Body Work 88 4Runner
Did some body work this weekend, mostly fixing rust. So I started under the fuel filler door. this was a hole, even though the factory caulk was holding the rust/metal together. I'm not to concerned about having a straight dent free truck, rust is the real concern.

Rocker finished

Time for some Armor
Starting with some homebrew sliders. The only thing I don't like about this is that mud will pile on the flat surfaces...maybe I'll turn the box tube. These are not attached yet but pretty close to where they will live. I have provisions for 4 outriggers from the frame....more to come.

Thanks, but I can't take credit for it. It is most unique because it focusses its geometry on 'flat links'. Just like any KOH Formula Cars

I installed it, but I bought the kit. Amazing service, tech support is unmatched and craftsmanship is top notch.

Awesome flex pics, I really like the front 3 link setup! Nice work on the sliders, they turned out really good, I like your design! I envy the soft top, I want one SOOoooo bad! Are the bow supports the same height as the 4runner cab, or slightly taller? I'm really contemplating on building a DIY soft top for mine, Ive read every DIY thread I can find, and looked at tons of pics, hopefully I can start on one soon, plan on doing a write up and listing all the specs in case others want to copy it. Really like the rear bumper/tire carrier, that's another thing I need, lol, I'm rear bumperless at the moment. Have you done any more work on your front bumper project? That thing is going to be sweet when your done!

Spoiler alert.....^^^
It won't ever be done! Improved, modified..whatever you want to call it, there will always be something else I want to do to it.
Front bumper is just waiting for more time to finish.
the Can-Back top is very simple in its design, the bows are the same height as the cab.
I will be building a new tire carrier at some point, there are a few design improvements I want to incorporate as well as a hammock stay, lighter and more protection

On a constant quest for better brakes, I replaced all four corners with new Technafit brakelines. Because I did a rear disc swap, I have 5 flex lines due to the semi-float Supra anchors out back.

Made some brake line block-offs

Cove Campground Big Dog's Offroad Spring Fling 2014
Popped My Cherry….
Did a little wheeling this Father’s Day weekend at Cove Campground during the Big Dog’s Offroad Spring Fling Event. About an hour in to the trail I broke a stock birf, bound to happen. The pictures don’t do the trail justice. Many of the rock fields have holes for your front and rear tire to drop into making climbing out a bit more challenging. Honestly, its all challenging to me because I have no Idea what I’m doing. I may have been able to avoid breaking the axle shaft, but I was consumed by trying to find a good line and didn’t realize I had my wheels turned when I was hitting the skinny pedal while stuck. FailRated (Evan) had invited me to go along with him and his father as well as another buddy and his family in a CJ-7.

A shot of the rock field that would end my stock passenger birfield’s 30yr life. While the east coast doesn’t have the size rocks you find out west, we do have shade. Very nice mild weekend for camping and wheeling.

Front is locked, in the pic below, and this is when the birf detonated. It’s funny I had never heard it before, but I knew what it was immediately when I heard it.(but what do I know, it could have been a shattered hub gear). I like to pretend I learn something every trip out. Took about 20 minutes to swap in a spare FailRated brought. When the birfield shattered, bits lodged themselves around the knuckle balls making it impossible to turn right. But no pics of the carnage.

The view from Pinnacle Ridge on the Appalachian Trail. We were able to drive up to a certain point of the trail(not the AT), then had a short hike on the AT(no motorized vehicles allowed).

Obligatory Father Son photo for Father’s Day
