First off, I bought a computer from a friend of mine. It's a great computer, and hasn't given me any other problems but this.

Every time I load up WMP, it asks me to validate my Microsoft Windows software. I have done it several times now, all of which has said it was successful, yet it still asks me every time, and it won't allow me to go into WMP.

I only use WMP for watching movies, but now I can't watch any of them. Winamp will only play .WMV's, and the movies that I have ripped off from my DVD collection to my computer are converted to AVI.

Is there any player that will play .AVI's? I have tried quick time, but it freezes up when I try to load a movie, and Winamp will play the audio from the movie, but not the movie.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
