New PC ...vista screen shots inside (dial up warning)
Well after more than a month of problems with intel i have my new PC up and running and so far its fast even with a pre-release operating system
Specs:
Intel DG965wH Motherboard using the onboard optical out to my Sony reciver
Intel Core 2 Duo e6300 CPU
2gb of DDR2-667 running in dual channel
Geforce FX7300 card..cheapy till DX10 cards become less pricey
Segate 250gb SATA II 7200RPM HD with 16mb cache
Dynex 500 watt PSU (yea i know its cheap but it was just that..REALLY cheap)
Windows XP Ulitmate 64bit
Its fast yea but heres the stuff you wanted to see anyways...some vista screen shots that arent from microsoft
This is what happens when you hover the mouse over an application on the task bar
IE and the new start menu. notice how everything is transparent. All of the fancy visual effects are called Aero if you didnt know already. Aero also includes fancy ways to open, close, minimize, maximize windows.
new Windows Media Player..using it over itunes on this machine.
one of the coolest features of vista is this alternative to alt+tab to go between windows. when you press windows key+tab this allows you to see all of the running windows even if they are minimized at the time..similar to expose on OS X
Overall i like Vista a lot so far. It has been very stable and works well with every application i have installed on it. including games

I have been playing with it and have been impressed with how smooth the install process was. Very very cool. The interface rocks.
Now where did I put that money for a new Directx 10 video card so I can play Crysis when it comes out????

Call me old-school but every windows version I've ever had, I've always used "Windows Classic" and " Rainy Day " color scheme. So Vista doesn't hold much appeal for me in that dept.
My rig runs almost 24/7 and it has zero stability issues with the way I have XP set up now.

I have had Windows Ultimate legally for about a month now. It's got its bugs left and right, but overall it's a very fun and stable operating system
I am glad windows decided against putting all the features they originally planned into it and just making it stable and solid.
EDIT: Haha, I just realized this. By bugs left and right I meant to say that there aren't many, but you come across a problem every now and then.

Intel EPP? Probably not. I use an AMD processor and in fact still using an older machine, so some of the little probs I am having are coming from that. I can't even use Aero :/

I liked vista, but I was having a lot of driver problems with sound and video... I will definitely make the jump with it looks compatible with everything i have now.

lookin pretty good. I don't think i'll be paying microsoft more money for another OS yet though. I'll give it a couple years for it to get somewhat "hardened" (if such a thing exists for a microsoft OS)

I'm using Vista for the first time right now and I gotta say...it looks cool but I think I upgraded way too soon. Even my chipset drivers won't work, lol.
But I'll play around for a while.
My bro works for MS so atleast I didn't pay a lotta dough...you would kill MS if you knew what I got it for, I just hope he doesn't quit anytime soon!
I'll be making a thread here soon about a new computer so if you guys have thoughts on a new processor, motherboard and video card please post up...I'll come back and edit this post as soon as I get the thread up.
Thanks,
Fink
